Kaitlyn is busy lining up performances for the winter and spring months. She will be back with Cliff & Friends at Stoney's Irish Grill in Schenectady next month. The BWC Jazz Orchestra continues to hold open rehearsals as the group prepares for some highly anticipated concerts featuring Kaitlyn on several refreshing charts arranged by Jim Corigliano for voice and big band.

Thanks to funding from the Musicians Performance Trust Fund, Kaitlyn enjoyed giving two fantastic concerts over Labor Day Weekend; one at The Linda in Albany and one at Freedom Park in Scotia. With the start of the academic calendar performances will be slowing down for a short time, but check back in November for information on winter gigs and concerts.

Did you catch Kaitlyn Fay with Shaun McCarthy at Yankee Distillery on the 11th? We were lucky this gig happened right before "New York on Pause" started. The crowd at the distillery that evening was divine and we look forward to returning as soon as it is safe to do so.

Check out the brand new peer-reviewed journal, JAZZ Education in Research and Practice, published by Indiana University Press. The first issue, released January 3, 2020, features Kaitlyn's Master's Thesis research. The journal will be launched at the Jazz Education Network annual conference, happening this year in New Orleans, LA, in early January.

Happy New Year! Kaitlyn is thrilled to announce that she now officially holds down the baritone sax chair in the Keith Pray Big Soul Ensemble which plays regularly at the Van Dyck in Schenectady.
Kaitlyn is also teaming up with Tyler Thomas and Jeanine Ouderkirk to present two intensive workshops on vocal jazz for educators in the Capital Region (one in January and one in February). For more info, contact Kaitlyn via email.
Finally, Kaitlyn will be slowing down on gigging for a little while, as she and her husband prepare for the arrival of their first child in early April.

The last few weeks have been full of good news! Kaitlyn has been asked to direct the 2017 Columbia County All-County Vocal Jazz Ensemble; and, as of the first week of April, Kaitlyn is an official NYSSMA voice adjudicator and All-State Vocal Jazz adjudicator. Recently, Kaitlyn and Andrew enjoyed their first performance at Spindles Wine Bar in Cohoes, NY, on April 2nd, and the duo looks forward to their gig at The Daily Grind as part of Troy's Night Out later this month.
Less than a year ago, New Jersey-based big band Big Beat recorded a couple of tracks for the nationally-touring group, Gas House Gorillas. Their new album, "Shut Up," was released this month and can be purchased on their website and a variety of music retail sites. Check out the two tunes featuring Big Beat (with Kaitlyn on baritone saxophone), "Cookin With Gas" and "The Thing That Swings."

A lot has happened in the last few months. In May, Kaitlyn married a wonderful man named Eric, and both have finished out another year of teaching in their respective schools. The couple will be relocating this summer to the Albany, NY area; and while they are sad to be moving away from family and friends, they have several new adventures to look forward to! Kaitlyn would like to thank all of those in the NYC/Hudson Valley area who have shown support for her music and performances.

This fall has been a busy one and we've got a great line up of performances coming in the months ahead. Big Beat has been working on some great new arrangements and will be playing all around New Jersey in 2015. If you're in the Hudson Valley you won't want to miss the benefit concert at Warwick Grove next month; this show will feature several world-renown classical musicians and a few local jazz musicians.

This year's Applefest promises to be a day of great food, music, and fall weather. The Warwick Valley area features breathtaking fall foliage and a visit to Warwick, NY can include great local shops and attractions. Kaitlyn is teaming up with good friend Nalani to perform a full set of jazz standards, folk/indie tunes, blues, and original songs as part of the Applefest entertainment lineup. Kaitlyn is thrilled to announce her debut at the 2014 Hudson Valley Jazz Festival! Swing by Warwick Grove on August 17th for a great FREE show that will feature several notable Women in Jazz of the Hudson Valley.
Keep an eye and an ear out for news on Big Beat, the new jazz and funk band based in NJ. This group is lead by a trio of young arrangers and the band celebrated its debut performance at Hat City Kitchen last month.

Summer is in full swing here in the Hudson Valley! Kaitlyn was mentioned In a recent DownBeat Magazine online article about the upcoming Hudson Valley Jazz Festival, and don't forget about Kaitlyn's performance later this month for the Warwick Summer Arts Festival!
Kaitlyn is also recently a member of two instrumental ensembles in NJ. As a volunteer flutist, she joins the Teaneck Community Band for their 70th Anniversary season. This band learns a diverse and challenging repertoire every Monday in July and presents concerts every Wednesday.
As a baritone saxophonist, Kaitlyn has joined some colleagues from her WPU days in the new big band called Big Beat. Their first performance is this month and will feature arrangements by several bandmates.

Dr. Laura Fattal at WPU's 5th Annual Diversity Conference. The workshop taught current and pre-service educators how to incorporate music and visual art into children's books around the theme of anti-bullying.

On Sunday, February 24, 2013, Kaitlyn's Ella Fitzgerald Tribute ensemble performed as the opening act to the legendary jazz guitarist, Bucky Pizzarelli, as a part of the WPU Jazz Room concert series.
